Get Moving with Shannon

Franklin Method with Shannon Murphy

Shannon offers traditional Franklin Method workshops. The most popular are "The Art and Science of the Plié" and Fabulous Feet, Effortless Jumping" (taught at the IADMs conference in 20250. She has also developed Eric's work into dance specific workshops such as "Mapping your Turnout" and "Breathing for the Singing Dancing Body". Shannon also does custom workshops for performers. Through conversation she will develop a workshop or series that is specific to your groups interests and practice. Examples include workshops for young dancers ages 10-15, embodied vocal support for Musical Theater, or non weight baring movement during recovery from imagery.

Shannon also offers private sessions in Franklin Method and somatic movement integration. Each session is designed to work with the curiosities of the individual. The practice is non diagnostic and uses imagery, functional anatomy, and movement to increase awareness of the body in motion. Guided self touch, or props are often used to increase proprioception and sensation. If you're interested, please contact me for more information. In addition to dance specific support, I have worked with a range of lovely humans along the way including those recovering from surgery, undergoing gender affirming care, preparing for long walking journeys, and gentle movement for seniors.

Shannon is Senior Faculty at Franklin Method and can facilitate training for Franklin Method Educators. If you would like to host a training consider the commitment you and your teachers are looking for. You can choose from a 3 day training such as the Fascia for the Lower Back, a 7 day event, such as the foot and leg modular training, or for those who want an intensive deep dive, the level trainings. Level 1 joints, Level 2 Muscle systems and Fascia, and 3 Organs and Organ fascia.
